It’s pouring rain now! And it happened yesterday, and the day before yesterday too. The end of the rainy season will come in about 10 days. I hope it won’t rain on GIon festival days….

先週末の積雪といい、連日寒い日が続きますが、いかがお過ごしでしょうか。今回は、そんな寒い時期だからこそ見ることのできる、京都の魅力ある場所を紹介したいと思います。京都の南丹市美山町にある『かやぶきの里』の雪灯廊です。毎年雪の多い時期に開催される雪灯廊。訪れた参加者の手作り雪灯篭や嵐山などで使われている花灯篭を組み合わせ、京都の数少ない冬のイベントを幻想的に演出します。期間中は民家のライトアップや屋台の出店もあり、寒い夜ではありますが、是非足を運んでみてはいかがでしょうか。

It was snow day last weekend and has recently continued cold day in Kyoto. However, we’d like you to know awesome events which can enjoy only in this season. It’s “The snow lantern of Kayabuki village” which is located in Miyama city, Kyoto. This event has been held every winter season. You could enjoy night view decorated with some lanterns of participants’s own making and famous flower lantern which run along in Arashiyama. There are special food courts and traditional house lit up there. Check it out!

今回スタッフが紹介するのは、京都の南丹市で開催されている京都「イルミエール」です。今年で5年目を迎える京都「イルミエール」。今年のテーマは、天空の森に「和」と「イルミネーション」の融合とのこと。また、去年特に大好評だったオーロラショーを大幅にバージョンアップしているようです。また近くに「るり渓温泉」もあり、冷えた身体を癒す最高の場所となっています。是非足を運んでみてください。

Welcome to our staff’s blog. Today we introduce illumination which is the one of the famous one around Kansai area. It’s called “Irumie-ru” which have been held for 5 years in Nantan city, Kyoto. The concept in this year is a combination of “Wa” whichi is Japanese culture and illumination. There is also hot spring nearby, so you could be feeling romantic and warm as well. It’s really great place to enjoy weekend.

 

Access: JR Sonobe station there are compliment bus from this station to there.

朝夕の冷えが厳しい今日この頃ですが、いかがお過ごしでしょうか。今回スタッフが紹介するのは「嵐山花灯路」です。花灯路は冬の観光を盛り上げようと、2005年から始まり12回目が現在開催されています。竹林の小径や渡月橋がライトアップされ、またいつもと違った嵐山の景観を楽しめる内容となっています。12/18まで開催されており、この時期にしか見られない貴重な催しものですので、ぜひ足を運んでみてください。

It was really cold in Kyoto these days, especially in the morning and at night. The season of winter has already come in Japan. So if you have a plan to come here, it might be nice idea to bring thick clothes here. By the way, today we staff recommend taking a walk around Arashiyama because the special event which something there is lit up has been held at night. It will hold in 8 days. It’s going to be interesting to compare with difference between midday and night time!! Check it out!!

朝夕だんだん涼しくなってきました。そんな夕方から、嵐山に鵜飼を見に行きませんか。

嵐山での貴族の船遊びは平安の昔から行われていました。嵐山を流れる大堰川で行われる鵜飼は、夏の嵐山の風物詩。清和天皇が宮廷鵜飼をご覧になったことから始まったといわれています。観光屋形船に乗れば、かがり火の焚かれた鵜舟のすぐ近くで、鵜匠の技を見ることができます。ぜひご覧ください。

Welcome to our staff’s blog. Today,we’d like to introduce “Ukai” in Arashiyama which is the cormorant fishing. “Ukai” was a kind of amusements for the nobility 1200 years ago. The way to be fishing is taking some cormorants tied neck with rope to find fish in the river. You could feel free to see that from riverside or take the cormorant boat if you pay 1800 yen. Check it out!

Welcome to our website. The topic of this month is our recommended “Izakaya”.

The meaning of “Izakaya” is Japanese style’s bar. It’s really sweltering in Kyoto these days, so I would like you to try Japanese cuisine with nice cold Sake and Japanese draft beer as well. The name of the awesome Izakaya is “Kyoshoku” near to the Shizyo-Kawaramati station where is easily accessible from somewhere. There is a lot of high quality Japanese cuisine there and you could feel Japanese traditional atmosphere from inside of building. However it’s very reasonable.Check it out!

ゴールデンウィーク終盤を迎え、京都の町も暑さが増してきました。
京都の中心を通る鴨川でこの５月から９月まで楽しめるのが、納涼床です。たくさんの床が連なっている様子を三条大橋から見ていると、夏が近いことを実感します。

床と言っても高級料亭が並んでいて、ちょっと値段が、、、と思ってしまいがちですが、実は今がお得に楽しむチャンスなんです！５月と９月のみランチ営業が行われるので、いつもより気軽に床を楽しむことが出来ます。和食だけでなく、イタリアン・フレンチ・カフェなども最近は増えてきているので、是非この機会に鴨川の床に足を運んでみてください！！


“Yuka” is large wooden platforms along Kamo River in downtown. You can enjoy this traditional experience from May to September.
If you are in Kyoto now, this is the best time to go! Yuka opens for lunch only in May and September because it gets too hot in the middle of summer. Not only Japanese restaurant but also some casual café open Yuka nowadays, so you can enjoy more casually. Do not miss this time

4月29日に京都鉄道博物館がオープンしました！！オープン日は約2000人の行列ができるほど、今大人気で大注目の場所です！ここではSLから新幹線まで53両の車両が展示されています！鉄道の歴史や技術を楽しく学んで、これからの鉄道ライフをより楽しみましょう♪

さらに、この近くの梅小路公園に立ち寄ると、とてものどかで気持ち良いです！リニューアルされたようで、数年前と比べても居心地の良さが全然違います！！この季節に行くとお天気もちょうど良いですし、ぜひ行ってみてください♪


Kyoto railway museum opened on 29th April. 2,000 people lined up on the day! This is the hottest place in Kyoto!!! This museum exhibits 53 train cars such as SL trains and Bullet trains, which is called Shinkansen in Japanese. We are sure you can enjoy learning the history and technology of railway!

If you go to Kyoto railway museum, we recommend you to go to Umenokoji park as well! This park has become more beautiful and peaceful after the renovation. You better get there and enjoy comfortable time!
